Introdução
A frota mercante dos Aliados era responsável pela manutenção das linhas de suprimento através do Atlântico durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial. Mais de 50 mil pessoas morreram no processo. Hoje, a tripulação de funcionários da marinha mercante atua em alguns dos maiores navios já construídos, e às vezes trabalham em conjunto com as forças navais de seus países.
